I'll Never Forget

Posts have been minimal from The Concretins. The only thing we want to talk about is the stoke from the OMA BBQ. Nik already said, "You don't understand." And if you weren't there, you can't understand.

The pool with the Mr. Rogers Effigy commands we Never Forget, and I shan't. However, I am starting to heal from the blow he dealt me when I tried to go frontside over the light. Not quite 'Scab-o-the Month' material, but it was substantial and multicoloered and annoying up until, oh, about an hour ago.

You simply don't understand...

Your sport sucks. You don't travel across the country (or across the globe) to go play baseball/basketball/football/tennis at 8 different venues with friends from around the world in one weekend. It just doesn't happen. Why? Because they're all the same. But who cares anyway. Skaters do. Or shall I say, OLD skaters do it. The Concretins planned and executed a "roadtrip" if you will, that can only be described properly as EPIC! The catalyst for this adventure was the OldManArmy.com second annual BBQ to be held at Chandler Skatepark in Arizona. That was scheduled for Sunday... we arrived Friday, with maps to parks, and even a backyard pool sporting the image and neighborly vibe of Mr. Rogers. The Phoenix area has plenty of fresh park 'crete that was 100% new to us. Posts for the next few weeks will likely be all about the BBQ weekend. Are we trying to rub it in? No, we just wish you could understand. Skate stories from 'Cretins will no doubt include this weekend for the rest of our lives.

Until I have MUCH more time to write about, sort, crop, and label photos, and review/edit a ton of video footage, here are just a few moments captured from, indeed, the greatest 72 hours of my 20 years of skating.

- OMP rests, in preparation for rippage.

- Fridays in Atlanta wouldn't even acknowledge the 'Cretins.

- My first time... was with Mr. Rogers.

- Double Black. That's how we roll bitches.

- New pads. Fresh Gnar.

- The obligatory pic of Skidzilla's butt. Yes, it reeks as bad as it looks. (Sorry Adam, thanks for taking the photo.)

- A proper group photo. We skate. We rule.

- Lil' OldManBrian meets his maker, one of the founders of OldManArmy.

- Back home in DaVille, moments after leaving the airport.

In Case You Didn't Know

The 5 Concretins that travelled to AZ got our pic taken with a skate legend. A skate legend from the 60's. Her name is Patti McGee and here is her oh-so-famous photo.

And here's her now infamous photo.

It was a pleasure to meet you Patti. Glad you made it!

Help Me St. Swingin' Richard!

Remember this guy? I miss him, so I put him up again. I been thinkin a lot about him lately - with all the talk of "bringin' it" and what not.

Behold St. Swingin' Richard, Patron Saint of Yer Twig-n-Berries, and the embodiment of Gnar!

P.S. I'd bring it, but I can't afford the extra seat it requires to get it on the plane.

YOU are NOT Ready. Oh crap... me neither.

Life is indeed good.

Aging Material

I could blog about how awesome the Derby City Expresso 'Decked Out' Skateboard Art Show was (and how embarrassed I was with the attention "my piece" got me). I could blog about the awesome road trip to Bloomington and Columbus, Indiana with Mofo and Junior. I could blog about how glad I am the park is re-opened (and blather on about my disappointment in the results of the 'cleaning'). I could blog about the gnar-killing ankle rolls (one for each foot) I took less than one week before the magnum opus of road trips. But, I ain't gonna. Instead I offer a humorous PEDESTRIAN activity related video from the Akron Marathon and 1/2 Marathon road trip.
