Backyard Riot

'Bout damn time... Yea, yea, yea. STFU. If you are one of our 3 pedestrian readers(or a Cretin in the dark), here's the scoop. This is just a tiny bit o' footage from our Arizona field trip back in November. Something I've been meaning to edit for 4 months now. Old Man Army soldier Calamity Jean (our star above) organized a genuine kegger jam and backyard pool session for the OMA BBQ weekend. She rocks.

More to come, but not terribly soon. Perhaps this will hold ya 'til 4:20 on 4/20?

See ya on the 'crete.

Poultrygeist : Night of the Chicken Dead

This movie must find its way to L'ville and the Concretins must see it if/when it does (NSFW and really not safe for anyone under the age of 18)...

Poultrygeist : Night of the Chicken Dead

Dave, you kept coming to mind while I watched this (all three times). I am speechless.

Grom Division

Let's do this!

Check out my "8oz. down the hatch tail stall"

Olli, Olli, Oliver!!!!!!

PANTS OFF CAKE BREAK!

Gripping his board with tiny tangled toes, a young Grom balances between champion and fallen warrior, who when splat and flat, will exclaim in a huff,"dadda, I falled down...oh man!" Could it be that my tiny tater tot, my young spud, has found, possibly found a love, a passion for urethanes singing over cracked concrete? Could he possibly be in the midst of enlightenment, finding the very thing we have all come to know intimately, this religion, our mantra as old men skaters? We can only hope so.

Love our future Grom Division,

Travio

Nice to Come Home - or Skidzilla Checks Out Again

Good start to a great vacation! But since this is a skate related blog, and my vacation was all about snowboarding - you can read it about it at Skidzilla's Personal Blog (updated for the first time in ages for your benefit).

The one skate thing did happen in route from Salt Lake in the Cincinnati Aeropuerto. I was grabbing a cuppa coffee from the Multinational Coffee Conglomerate situated in Concourse C. I had my Spitfire Hoodie on and the Barrista, a woman no more than 20, asked, "Do you Skate?"

"I Do." I said in reply

"That's so cool!" She said. I suspected she was trying her best to hide the parenthetical statement rolling around in her mind. Actually, I was quite positive her response was, "That's so cool (for an old dude)."

The woman in front of me looked back and gave me a look that clearly said, "That is so NOT cool!"

But then it happened - THE Question - and no skateboard in site. The youthful and less-than-educated (skate-wise, at least) barrista then said, "So do you ride for Element as a pro?"

I chose the truth despite the fact it was clearly going to crush her. "No," I said. "I just got a bad-ass sweatshirt for my birthday."

Trying to remain cool in the face of NOT meeting a celebrity, she said. "It is a cool sweatshirt. My friend has a skateboard with the same logo on it." She was re-smitten with me when she saw the SpongeBob charm on my zipper that Aine gave me. As she was gushing, I grabbed my joe and headed toward my flight.

I smiled even bigger when I saw a pilot's bag with a sticker of Ralph Wiggums on it.

It's good to be home.

Stoke Rekindled

What a great session. New wood, and FINALLY new skate stoke for the New Year. I think mostly I was lacking in skate stoke because of weather. Today was warm, AND we had a full contingent of 'Cretins and friends at the park. It was a "private" session as only old folks were present for about 2 hours. The rain came as I was leaving, but I heard it went away relatively quickly and the session continued 'til 3:00. The roster today included, Me, Skidzilla, Steve-O, Mofo, NoShow, ToneBone, Junior, Travio, Phil AND our long lost Lexington compadre OMP.

The morning started early for Skidz and I. I've been wanting to recreate an OMA skate graphic for quite some time, and finally all the pieces fell into place. Then the shredding began. I actually won't rehash everything this time, you just should have been there. It was great to see everyone, but even better to see everyone together. Here's a few pics from the session, starting with the "Falling Down" deck graphic. Get yourself a deck or a t-shirt with the image at OldManArmy.com.
