Attempts Were Made

The bro sent this awesome photo of himself 'back in the day.' I tried several times to upload it to the "Where you now?" section of the Kryptonics Website. The site claims to allow for uploading of Old School photos of people using Kryptonics. But, alas, it to no avail. So, here it appears, on the CONCRETIN Website.

This deck is still functional - complete with Krytonic 70mms - and the bro can still whip this trick out anytime it's requested. Bad Ass!

Tired Old Man Session

We loaded up the 'Cretin Cruiser bike in Skidz van to take it back to the shop for some tweakage (a new headset and some brake adjustments). Dave had returned a day earlier from a trip out west that included some major boring plane sitting during the winter weather, he and Mofo had been fussin' with drywall all day(again), and I've been busy gettin' the relocated pressroom rolling, so we were some tired old dudes. BUT because of the frigid temps, none of us have skated in about a week, so it was time for a session. Travio also made the trek out, having convinced the woman he had earned a session with tons of work on the abode.

I was prepared to suck, as I had put together a brand new set-up. New deck, new wheels, new trucks, and fresh grip. The board is quite a bit bigger than my last ride, so that was gonna take some gettin' used to. Add to that, new kicks. So any skater will tell you, that's a recipe for suckage. But alas, suck I did not! I was stoked to be skating anyway, and even though it wasn't my best session, it was fun. Our energy level was obvious as the pace of the session was quite leisurely. Even Mofo, also with new shoes, was only moving at Mach1 (normally it's Mach3 grinds and such). We all walked to the coping for our runs, rather than running up and dropping in as quickly as possible after a bail. But the comraderie level was just like any other great session. Skid even got a fakie to fs pivot. He really worked hard to get multiples, but his deck wheel just wouldn't unlock from the coping.

Thanks for the lift Skidzilla. Good to see ya Trav and Mofo. And much appreciation to the skate gods for allowing me yet another fun session.

New ride. New shoes. Green, it's the new black.

Fantastic weather...

ELSEWHERE! Lovely long weekend full of rain... Oh well, I have plenty to do in the house right now. New computer(s) to mess with, basement to prepare for drainage work, new bike to tweak, and video to finish up. Things I keep talking about, things I keep working on, but they never seem to go away. (Yet, here I sit blogging about work I should be doing... shuddup.)

But even though the items all add work to the list(s), it also means I have a new computer, gonna have a cool basement, a killer new bike, and cool skate footage. So life is good, right?

But my Scorpiotic Neurosis requires that SOMETHING gets crossed off the list(s) this weekend... or I'm climbing the clock tower, so stay out of range (about 100 yards-I'm not a very good shot-so you'd probably live anyway, but why chance it).

Alright gang...i just ordered Sun Rising - Legend Of Skateboarder Christian Hosoi. After talkinig to Mr. Phil Roth he swears it's an awesome documentary. It should be here in a few days. So, if Nick or Mofo haven't already bought and or viewed this I suggest we get together a collective viewing followed up by some old men power skating. You can view the trailer by clicking here! .

Enjoy,

Travio

Saturday a.m. Anyone??

In the 50s with 0% chance of precipitation. Time to bring in the New Year with a session.
_________________________
Update: 50 and no rain... yea, right! Welcome to the Ohio Valley. Just as John and I roll into downtown, the rain begain. The temp said 51, but it felt like 34. He rolled on to Skidzilla's to help hang drywall, I headed to the bro's for paint preppin'. After a hard day of work for us all, we decided to attempt a miniramp session at Mofo's.

Though untrue, you'd think we all napped all day in preparation for the session! We were ON! (and with little warm up) I hit good 50-50s, and a couple bs disasters, new for me. Gimpy put on a slide clinic with rock fakie sliders, 360 rock sliders, and fs lipslides - Gnar! He also tested the structural integrity of the door jam with a 5-0 to vertical body slam. It didn't budge. Ouch. Of course Kyle is gonna rip, and today was blunt class. (no, not THAT kind) 180 blunt to pivot, blunt fakies, and ollie TO blunt to rock fakie. Insanity. He's also only a session away from fs nosegrinds. Punk. Skidzilla rolled up later and immediately started hittin' pivots and fs grinds, with some good wall slides tossed in.

I did not pick up the "Concretin Cruiser" chopper bike, as it still needs a bit o' tweakin'. The shop owner has been sick and understandably was in a pissy mood. He was genuinely worried that I wasn't gonna like the ride, as he didn't when he tested it. (Was even ready to ship it back if I had the slightest hesitation. That's some customer service right there, 'specially when you're illin'.) But I tried to reassure him that I LOVE it! It's gonna be one kickass commuter. Can't wait to pick it up! Hopefully Tuesday. But get well soon Tom!

Sunday morning was more nastiness. No concrete rippage for the Concretins this weekend. I arrived a bit early downtown and did get a very short session in, but by the time the rest of the crew rolled in, the rain had settled in to stay. BUGGER! Maybe next weekend. Go skate and do a 50-50 in our honor. Thanks.
